“The leading Hastings osteopathic clinic”

We offer something special

Looking for an osteopath in Hastings?

My name is Dan and I live and work in the fantastic sea side town of Hastings.

I am a registered OsteopathKinesiologistclinical hypnotherapist, anatomy teacher and all round movement geek and I work with people of all ages and all backgrounds to help them understand their bodies and get them out of pain fast.

The Hastings osteopathic clinic with a difference

I created my Hastings osteopathic clinic to be a little different. It is a space where we get time to explore, treat and move.  A space where we investigate how your whole body links together and space where we empower you with movement and hands-on treatment (often at the same time). I truly believe it is the only osteopathic clinic in the South East to offer such a huge array of cutting edge treatments to help address the health of  your body, gut and mind.

It’s a space where I see magic happen everyday and where I am constantly reminded how incredible the healing potential of the human body is.

How we are different

I use a broad range of traditional osteopathic massage and manipulation techniques alongside cranial osteopathy, medical acupuncture and kinesiology to best suit the needs of my patients.

After completing a 5 year masters degree in osteopathy I am a fully registered members of the General Osteopathic Council, the regulating body for all osteopaths, and continuously attend seminars and courses to stay at the forefront of best current practice in wholistic healthcare.

In addition to these more conventional treatment modalities I look at how you eat, move and think to support you in creating health from the inside out. I use:

Functional medicine and nutritional advice to uncover the root cause of chronic disease and to build your immune health and resilience

Anatomy in Motion and movement training for muscle and joint pain as well as running, walking and other sport related issues

Clinical hypnosis for chronic pain and behavioural change

The NHS-supported Perrin Technique™ – a diagnostic and treatment protocol for M.E., Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and post-viral fatigue which is currently being researched for efficacy in the treatment of Long Covid

I hope that I can help you via the blogs and videos on this website or to book a session in person please get in contact here.

Best wishes
Dan.

Testimonials

“After 2 years of lower back pain I am now pain free following my consultation with Dan. My consultation included a thorough history taking and assessment followed by gentle treatment that has restored my range of movement and enabled me to move with no discomfort.”

Becky

“Dan managed to resolve in one treatment a painful upper back problem that another osteopath had not been able to resolve after eight sessions. He has a dogged determination to find the root cause of problems and has done this a number of times with other sports-related pains I have had.”

Lou

“I’ve seen Daniel for pain I’ve lived with on my left side (shoulder and hip) for many years. I now live pain free. I cannot recommend Daniel enough, he has a deep interest in getting to the root of the issue and working with you to address it. I’ve recommended him to all my friends who need help to manage those pains and strain and so far all of them have also had great results.”

Jo-Anne

“Dan has expertly treated me for various sports injuries that I have suffered over the last two years. He is very knowledgeable and intuitive and always seems to ‘find the solution’. Dan goes beyond treating the symptoms but always strives to find the cause.”

Keith

“Dan has seriously changed the way I use my body and I can’t thank him enough. After a hip replacement in my 50’s I went to Dan to help me with walking efficiently again (which isn’t as silly as it sounds as I’d picked up some bad habits by relying on the good leg) and I was in danger of causing myself more damage and possibly more surgery in the future.

Dan used several skills (he has many!) to help correct my posture, improve my walking technique and now I’m back to my pre-injury me – totally pain free – dancing, hiking and getting up to all sorts of mischief. Dan was so effective that my husband and many friends also use him. Thanks Dan! You’re a bit of a wizard!”

Telling your story is the first and most important step on our journey together. Like any journey, we need to know ‘where’ we are going and ‘how’ we are going to get there and to do this we need an accurate map. Your map begins with a case history form that you will be sent before our session. By exploring your current symptoms, previous injuries, lifestyle, beliefs and fears (you will find it fascinating going back in time) we can figure out where you are now and how to get you moving forward again.

Assessments

This is where the fun really begins as we start to layer movement assessments over traditional osteopathic palpation and manual muscle testing. I will video you walking, break down the biomechanics of the movements that are causing your discomfort and really reacquaint you with your body and how it has adapted over time. The goal is to figure out why your body is asking for help and where it would like us to begin. Once the maps are aligned and the compass is pointing north its time to continue the journey…

Treatments

Treatment is all about adopting the right tools for the right job (for more see here the link to osteopathy therapies section). I will use a lot of different modalities to address different parts of your body during our session. Here are just some of the areas we will work on: Your nervous system and how it feeds information from the outside world to your brain and body (a major piece of the puzzle for many people). Your joints and their mobility, stability, and strength How your body integrates all these parts together to create effortless movement Your beliefs, fears and hopes and how they affect your movement and outlook going forward (often overlooked but vitally important).

Movement

The end goal is to integrate all the treatment modalities into movement and to reinforce your resilience. Some of the movement will be mindful and specific at first however ultimately just moving more and moving better is an elixir for great health. Where does treating stop and training start? In my book they are one in the same. When I work with some of my more elderly patients I am amazed by those who have always led active lifestyles as they have discovered exuberant health at every opportunity and inspire with their mobility, ease of movement and optimistic outlook.
